Frequently asked questions

How Seat Grab works, and what it doesn't do.

How does the schedule builder work?

The builder lets you lay out a draft semester on a weekly grid so you can see which sections clash before registration opens. Tap any full section to add it to your tracked list.

How fast are the notifications?

We re-check each tracked section about once a minute, so an alert usually reaches you within a minute or two of a seat opening. Delivery also depends on your phone — web push is best-effort, and iOS in particular can hold notifications back when the device is asleep or in Low Power Mode.

We can't guarantee you'll get the seat. Someone else may register first.

Do you need my Omnivox password?

No. We never ask for your student ID, password, or any Omnivox credentials, and we never register on your behalf. We watch the public course listing and tell you when something changes — you log in yourself to register.

Is this affiliated with my college?

No. Seat Grab is an independent student project with no affiliation to Vanier College, Dawson College, or Skytech Communications, who operate Omnivox. Using it is your responsibility, and it does not change any of your college's registration rules or deadlines.

Which colleges are supported?

Vanier College and Dawson College are supported. Each Seat Grab account belongs to exactly one college, chosen at signup, and it only sees that college's courses, schedules, and alerts. If you picked the wrong college or transferred, email support and we can change the account's school manually.

Is there a limit to how many sections I can track?

The $5 Semester Pass lets you track up to 8 sections. That's enough for one main section plus backups.
